Your joy does not take away from someone else’s pain. And your joy does not make you careless. It makes you human. Joy is not selfishness. It is not turning away from what hurts in the world. It is remembering what we are trying to protect in the first place. Because the moments we laugh, hold each other close, create something beautiful, or feel grateful for being alive. Those moments remind us why any of this matters. Joy connects us. It softens the parts of us that fear tries to harden. It keeps our hearts open when it would be easier to close them. So care deeply.
